RESOURCES

From our Adopt-a-Park Program, where volunteers help document soundscapes in parks, to a global network of sound libraries, maps, and research, these resources invite you to listen, learn, and connect.

ADOPT-A-PARK PROGRAM

Through our Adopt-a-Park Program, we encourage our members to support national, state and local parks by volunteering their recording services. Our members are currently working with the following California parks through this program:

  • Yosemite National Park - Dan Dugan, Sharon Perry
  • Joshua Tree National Park - Dan Dugan, Sharon Perry
  • The Presidio - Dan Dugan
  • Muir Woods - Ernst Karel
  • Point Reyes National Seashore - Mark Lipman, Ernst Karel, Cheryl E. Leonard
  • Henry Coe State Park - Steve Sergeant
  • Lassen Volcanic National Park - Greg Weddig

If you’re interested in initiating a relationship with a park, there are a few things to consider:

  • Most importantly, choose a park that's easy for you to get to and that you like to visit.
  • National parks generally require establishing a formal relationship either through a scientific research permit or as an official volunteer.
  • Many parks have restrictions on professional audio and video recording.
  • State and local parks may allow more informal relationships.

We can help you navigate.
